Viewing Position: Administrative Assistant
About
Karen was transplanted to Fort Morgan, Colorado at the age of nine, coming with her family from the panhandle of Texas. Hereford, to be exact, where the cows have white faces. Being the third of four daughters, she was pretty much the middle child (and the favorite, she thinks). Karen and Scott were married in 1983, and daughter Kellie was born five years later. Daughter Shannon came along a short 22 months after Kellie.
After moving to Estes Park in 2008, Karen was employed by the Town of Estes Park in the Community Development Department. In 2017, she was hired by the Estes Valley Land Trust as their Office Manager, and thoroughly enjoyed working with the many volunteers at that organization. After a sudden turnover at Scott’s office, Karen and Scott decided that Karen should be the Administrative Assistant for Scott and the newly formed Thompson Group. Although she enjoys working with The Thompson Group, her real passion lies with volunteering and helping others. Karen has volunteered for the Estes Park Rotary Duck Race every year since 2010. Karen was appointed President of the Estes Park Rotary Club for 2023-2024. She also enjoys volunteering at Summit Church.
One of her favorite ways to help clients is by helping them get their homes ready to sell. This can involve packing, cleaning, sorting, selling, and donating items at the owner’s discretion and taking care of all of those details that can easily become overwhelming when people are moving. Karen is most proud of being married to Scott for over 40 years, her kids, and summitting Longs Peak when she was 51. She loves their grandsons Conrad and Griffin, with all her heart.
